Wisconsin's Civil War Memorials
Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Burlington

Stained glass windows dating to 1885 are found in Burlington's Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, including this example. The window featured here was sponsored by the GAR Luther Crane Post 201 of Burlington.

According to a local newspaper account in 1885, "The fine colored glass memorial windows so long talked of, are to be placed in Plymouth Church building in the near future, which will add greatly to the style and beauty of that sanctuary. The expense will be between $250 and $300, and will be born by individual members of the Church society."

Luther Crane Post was named for Martin Luther Crane, who served during the Civil War as a member of Co. C, 1st Wisconsin Infantry. Post 201 was mustered in with thirty-four members on Aug. 6, 1885 and the stained glass window was sponsored by the Post the same year.

The church is located at 124 West Washington Street in Burlington, Wis.
