Frank Murdock

Frank Murdock, 90, Berlin's last Civil War Veteran, died at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home at Waupaca on 30 July 1936. He was Berlin's first Chief of Police and operated a cigar factory for 37 years.

Murdock enlisted at Byron, NY, as a private in the 25th New York Light Artillery Battery on 31 August 1862. His unit served in the defenses of New Orleans and La Fourche, LA. He was promoted to corporal but later reduced to ranks. Murdock mustered out with his regiment on 1 August 1865 at Rochester, NY.

Murdock was buried in the GAR plot at Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin.
